Bangor’s history

Collection

Bangor was settled in 1902 by descendants of Welsh families who had migrated to Patagonia in 1860. Conflicts with the Argentine authorities and a flood in 1899 led some 250 of them to move again. They were urged on by David Lloyd George and by Evan Jenkins, a fellow Welsh Patagonian who had come to Canada earlier, and they made their way to Saskatchewan.
